Hi, I’m Pete Fry, a Personal Trainer from the UK.
Doesn’t it suck when you don’t have time to get the gym?
We’ve all been there. We’ve all planned to hit the gym after work and then had to work late. These things happen and finding time to keep up a fitness regime can be challenging with work, family and social commitments.
Recently I’ve found myself in the same position and having less and less time to train, so I started experimenting with short, sharp workouts that I could do at home or in-between clients at the gym. I needed something that I could complete from start to finish in 15 minutes, but that also offered the benefits I was looking for:
I knew that to hit all three of these targets I had to use challenging movements in a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) format as I didn’t have the time to train all of these qualities individually. So I chose the hardest movements I could think of like Burpees, Dumbbell Thrusters and Sprints, and set about programming a series of workouts.
I’ve always been a fan of interval training and it’s well known that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts produce a lot of lactic acid and so are great for fat loss. The reason for this is that lactic acid stimulates the production of growth hormone which is an AWESOME fat loss tool.
Many of the fat loss workout programs avaiable today are based on HIIT, as this is the stuff that works!
How To Double The Effect Of Your Workouts
As with many fat loss workout programs, using explosive bodyweight movements like burpees in a HIIT format is a great way to burn fat, but even better is to add resistance exercises into your intervals. I’m not talking about doing curls with cheap resistance bands though. I’m talking about high-effect movements with dumbbells, like the clean and press, squats and rows and combining these with calorie burning bodyweight movements like squats, burpees and push-ups.
Intervals For Maximum Fitness And Fat Loss
By taking these movements and hitting work intervals of anywhere from 20 seconds up to 2 minutes and resting anywhere from 10 seconds to no more than 1 minute, I found that I was able to increase my fitness, muscular endurance AND lose body fat, in just 15 minutes.
Since using this method of training I haven’t looked back and have found that it’s the perfect compliment for more lengthy gym sessions which I still do most weeks, when time allows.
After experiencing the great results from my program, I decided to put my weekly workouts inside a website, where my Personal Training clients could access them, and now you can too.
